Exactly. Even if they never "happen" happen (and I doubt they will) this really is it. The big I-T. Wilson's bent over backwards to show House that he is ridiculously dedicated to him and will always be there, no matter what. House hasn't, except for on very few occasions ("Maybe I don't want to push this until it breaks," the interfering with Wilson's love life - House's way of protecting Wilson and trying to avoid him getting hurt, etc), until now. This was insanely huge of House. All episode he talks about how people don't change. And then he accpts it in Amber, and then himself. He offered Amber the very thing she wanted the most. She is Cut Throat Bitch for a reason. And yet she said no. She chose Wilson. And while it's entirely possible she'd started out with Wilson to get back at House for firing her, it doesn't matter anymore. And House sees this, and actually tells her she's changed. House may not like it, but to self-sacrifice like that by stepping back and allowing Wilson to be happy, even at the risk of losing him - House can't say how he feels any plainer than that. I think "I love you" would actually be entirely too simple in this case.
