IAWTC. To me, this episode makes them "canon" because it couldn't be clearer from this episode that House is in love with Wilson. And I truly think that Amber spurned him into realizing it here in a way he hadn't before.
I've been through the ringer in other fandoms because, to me, so many other slashers are obsessed with the sex. That has never been the point with the couples I ship. I am convinced House is in love with Wilson, but that physicality does not necessarily have to or should come into it. I don't care if they kiss (they're never going to, so to me it's silly in believing that pipe dream).
For so long, fans wanted some indication that House cared about Wilson the same way Wilson has always cared about House, and here in the fourth season we got it. They bitch at each other, they insult each other, they're both difficult, very screwed-up people. But in season three Wilson proved that he's willing to sacrifice everything (his job, his money, his very freedom) for House. I used to think that theirs was a very twisted relationship, that House was dragging Wilson down with him. But House showed here that he actually loves Wilson enough to recognize that. It's the old cliche about letting go, but House will protect Wilson, most of all, from House himself.
