For Antonia, Tuesday mornings were always greeted with excitement, with an odd eagerness to actually be awake at an hour she may normally have slept long past. Though she was often up early for work, Tuesdays were her day off (something her boss found odd, though with the rush of people trying to get weekends off, it was a little refreshing when somebody asked for a day nobody else really wanted), so it was strange indeed that she was up and ready to go so very early in the morning.

Even stranger was that her intended destination was the grocery store, of all places. She had her reasons, though, and had been keeping up with her Tuesday morning trip to the grocery store ever since she'd taken up a nursing job at Hetalia International Hospital.

One bright, warm Tuesday morning found Antonia happily walking to the store, customary red sundress flowing in the light breeze, yellow handbag swinging at her side. She whistled as she walked, pausing only to wave cheerfully at the man who ran the hamburger stand near her apartment and her friend who ran a flower shop next to the grocery store, as well as many other random people in between.

As soon as she finally reached her destination, she made a beeline straight to the produce section, bypassing all the cute, brightly packaged snacks and treats on her way.

"Ah," she said, picking up a juicy, red tomato. "You look even fresher than last week~." She carefully looked over the tomato, checking for any bumps, bruises, or blemishes that may have made it undesirable, and upon finding none, placed it in one of the little bags the store had laying all around near the fruits and vegetables. That done, her hand went back into the bin to look for another delicious tomato to take home with her.

One tomato, two tomatoes, three tomatoes, four-- just as she was about to grab a particularly yummy looking one, her hand was met with not the tomato she wanted, but another hand, one belonging to somebody standing on the other side of the bin.

"Lo siento," she said, pulling her hand back and pouting slightly. She really wanted that one! "You can have i--"

The man mumbled a, "Whatever," cutting Antonia off, and she looked up to give him a smile in return.

He didn't smile back, just tucked the tomato into his own bag and scurried off, but Antonia felt a small stirring of a wonderfully light something in her chest at the sight of his cute little scowl and the way he clung to that bag of absolutely perfect tomatoes.

She watched him go, memorising the way his dark brown hair took on a slightly red tint under the fluorescent lights of the store, how one stray strand seemed to be popping up from his hairline, apparently defying gravity. Her daze lasted until he was completely out of sight, but as soon as she'd snapped out of it, she just grinned to herself.

"I hope he's here next Tuesday," she said to the tomatoes, an almost sing-song tone filling her voice.

After all, anybody who knew how to pick out the best of her favourite fruit was surely somebody Antonia needed to get to know.
