Ed slams the door with a final, 'Goodbye,' and Selene just shakes her head.
---
Days later, after his he's returned home from that drive of his, he realises he should probably get his things back from her apartment. He gathers up the few things of hers in his possession and heads over to her place for what he knows to be the last time. On the way over, his mind races with all the things he wants to say, all the things he wants to do, all the things he knows will never happen.
Days later, he shows up at her door, a box in his hands, and a frown on his face. He hands her the box, and before she can respond, he begins his search through the apartment for anything belonging to him. He leaves behind a few CDs, because he knows she likes them, but other than that, everything of his, every sign he once inhabited her space, is gone. He goes back to his car with the things, and no words are said between them.
Days later, he goes back to his home and realises how empty it feels now that nothing of her remains in it. The walls no longer echo of her laughter, the sheets (which have been washed) no longer contain her scent, his skin no longer speaks of her touch. Nothing is left of her, except for those parts which he keeps in his mind, and in his heart.
Days later, reality comes crashing down on him once again as his knees go crashing into the floor, and his fist goes crashing into the wall. A curse escapes his lips at the same time as a sob. This is it. No going back.
Days later, the despair from those first few hours is doubled exponentially as he weeps on his cold, hard floor.
Days later, he's still wishing he could turn back time.
---
Days later, she's still moping in her room. Jeremy has tried to coax her out, to get her to go somewhere with him, but his efforts are in vain. She hasn't even left her room to inhabit his bed, an uncharacteristic act for her.
Days later, Jeremy sees how much this mistake is really affecting her. She only cried the once, but she may as well have kept going for all sadness that is radiating from her small form. She's always been a small person, physically, but she made up for it with her big personality. Now, for the first time since he has known her, he sees how small she truly is. Sees her actions for what they really mean: that heartbreak he is all too familiar with.
Days later, when Jeremy is out, she hears a knock at the door and thinks she should probably answer it. When she sees that it is him at the door, she wants to close it in his face, but a box is thrust to into her arms, and she is left speechless. She doesn't say a thing as his essence is stripped from every room. She stares at him as he leaves, willing him to say something, anything, but he doesn't, and that is that. He leaves in silence and she throws the box at the door.
Days later, Jeremy comes home to find a box and various items strewn about on the floor by the front door, and he is pretty sure he knows what took place. He doesn't bother to ask her what happened when he finds her, as has become the norm, in her room, lying solemnly in her bed. He slides in next to her, pulling her form to his, trying to offer her some form of comfort, though he knows it won't help.
Days later, she cries again, in the arms of her best friend. The tears are more bitter this time.
Days later, she wishes she could undo all that has been done these past few days.
---
Days later, they cry together, though separate, and the universe is a sadder place in their eyes.
